Art for Peace
As a response to the events of September 11th 2001, I began the Art for Peace group with a small gathering of art therapy students in her home in Chicago, Illinois. Since then the group has grown to include artists, art therapists and others that value the potential of creativity in community. Our joint intention is to ground ourselves and support one another, promoting responsive expression in our lives. The group is multigenerational with members from 4 to 95 years old and international with representation from throughout the US, Canada, Israel, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Now, with the COVID-19 pandemic and political and racial conflicts raging around us, we meet on Zoom to focus once again, using our imagery to support our clearest personal course of action for whatever calls for our attention. Regardless of individual points of view, we gather as a community to make art, using the creative process to guide our work. We welcome others with like intentions to join us.
